"Appy wore her
last Landa Dog
rug for 6 years, so
I was happy to get
another Landa. She is
a full-time outdoor dog,
living on a few acres, so
the rug got plenty of use.
Rug is well cut, so does not
twist and flop on her (no
matter how many balls she
chases!). I bought hers 5cm
longer than base of tail, so
she had plenty of cover when
she curled up on her bed."

WEATHERBEETA 'PARKA' DOG RUG
(AKA 'LANDA')
tried+teed
Dalmatian puppies are born pure white!
They develop their spots as they get older
with their first spots appearing at around
two weeks of age. By one month old they
will have the majority of their spots.
Alongside our very brave men and women
who serve and protect our country are some
very special, well trained dogs. The most
common breeds used as military dogs are
German Shepherds and Belgian Shepherd
Malinois. Training these dogs takes a lot of
time, effort and commitment; with the dog
and handler forming a very unique bond built
on trust and mutual respect.
Dogs are used in military situations because
of their highly sensitive sense of smell and
superior hearing. Well trained dogs are
extremely obedient and responsive and have
the ability to work for an extended period of
time. They are also naturally weapon-packed
- with their speed (up to 30km/hr), strength,
intimidation and of course - 42 teeth!
The main roles of Military Dogs include:
Ü Detection of explosives, narcotics,
people and other prohibited items
Ü Tracking the movements of people and/or
groups for various operations, usually
in adversary areas
Ü Providing an early warning of dangers
Ü Personal protection
The jobs these dogs perform are invaluable
and make them a very important member
of any military unit and our community.
