12 | my pet magazine "We have tried every combination of hay bag, hay net, hay pillow we can find, ranging from the cheap to the ridiculously expensive. These hay nets have been the best we have found in terms of value for money and they actually do the job they are supposed to do ie. supply hay for the horse and importantly slow down the rate at which the hay is consumed. We've had ours in use pretty well constantly for 2 years in stables with horses that are not kind to them." - Belinda, vet-n-pet DIRECT staff HEAVY DUTY 2 TONE POlY HAY NET Do horses need their teeth checked and how will I know if my horse has a problem? All horses should have regular dental check ups. They should be checked as foals then every six months until their permanent teeth have erupted, usually at about five years of age. After this they should have yearly checkups or if a problem arises. Teeth should be checked by a qualified equine dentist or a veterinarian. During a checkup they will be able to float sharp teeth and remove any problematic teeth. Your horse may need their teeth checked if they are dribbling, dropping food, have sores in their mouth, soaking their feed, have a swollen face or jaw or are unwilling to eat. Q A & A horse has an acute sense of smell that allows it to detect nervousness in a handler? Horses also become nervous around the smell of blood. tried+teed BREEDBrEaKdOWN APPEARANCE: Mottled or spotted skin and coat, a visibly white sclera (the area surrounding the iris of the eye) when the eye is in normal position and vertical stripes in the hooves.
