FURMINATOR DESHEDDING TOOL FOR CATS Reaches deep beneath the long topcoat to gently remove undercoat and loose hair. Reduces shedding by up to 90%. What an excellent product! My 15 year old cat that hates being brushed lets me groom her with the Furminator. Result being a lot less fur around the house and fewer matted lumps on the cat. I would recommend this to every cat owner!!" - Cat Lady vet-n-pet DIRECT customer Although it can be destructive it is important to remember that scratching is a natural behaviour for cats. Not only does scratching keep their claws healthy by removing the outer layers of the claw but it does serve other purposes as well. Scratching marks the territory, both visually and with scent from the scent glands on the paws, it releases stress and anxiety, stretches their legs and body and it is a way of playing and burning off energy. Destructive scratching on furniture, curtains or carpets can be frustrating but there are a few ways to deter your pets from scratching in unwanted places. Sticky Paws are like double sided sticky tape, one side sticks to the furniture, carpet, curtains or wherever required and the other side is also sticky which means when the cat tries to scratch on them they can't as their paws stick to it. Another option is a deterrent spray, like No Scratch Spray, which you spray onto the area you want to deter the cat from scratching. The blend of essential oils is pleasant to humans but cats do not like it so they should not scratch the sprayed area. It is really important to provide your cat with somewhere that they can scratch, like a scratcher, so they can perform the natural scratching behaviour without destroying the furniture. Feliscratch by Feliway is a product that is designed to redirect a cat to scratching onto your desired location and is very useful to use on a scratching post or in the desired scratching place.
